Tracy Causey, Healthcare Trailblazer in the RVA

Tracy Causey is a name that resonates with healthcare

excellence and community service in Central VA. With a solid educational background and years of experience in the healthcare industry, he has risen through the ranks to become the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Capital Area Health Network (CAHN) {CAHealthNet.org}.

Causey's journey began with a Masters of Science in Public Health (MSPH) from Meharry Medical College in 1997. His thirst for knowledge and leadership skills led him to pursue a second master's degree, an MBA from Belmont University in 1999. Armed with a strong educational foundation, Causey embarked on a career that would shape healthcare in the years to come.

After completing his education, Causey took on the role of Director of Community Health at Ascension Health in St. Louis, Missouri. Ascension Health, the largest non-profit Catholic hospital management system in the country, provided him with invaluable experience in healthcare management. He dedicated three years to this role before making a move to Richmond in 2003.

In Richmond, Causey assumed the position of Executive Director of the Vernon J. Harris Medical Center. His leadership skills and dedication to healthcare continued to shine, leading him to his current role as the CEO of the Capital Area Health Network (CAHN).

Within CAHN, Causey oversees multiple medical centers, including the Vernon J. Harris Medical Center, Fulton Community Medical Center, Northside Medical Center, Southside Medical Center, Bermuda Medical Center, and Henderson Health Services.

One of Causey's standout achievements is the recognition of all CAHN sites as Patient Centered Medical Home Level 3 by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This recognition underscores the commitment to providing top-notch, patient-centered care across CAHN's facilities.

Causey's dedication to his community goes beyond his professional career. He actively volunteers on several boards for community organizations. His involvement in organizations like the Medical Group Management Association and his pursuit of a fellowship with the Academy of Certified Medical Professional Executives showcase his commitment to healthcare excellence.

In addition to his community service and healthcare leadership roles, Causey is also a member of the Air Force Reserves, having served as an active-duty officer in the United States Air Force. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Furthermore, in his spare time, Causey volunteers as the President of the Chamberlayne Little League Baseball and Softball Association, highlighting his dedication to youth and sports.

Causey shares his life with his wife, Doris, who serves as a Judge in the Virginia Court of Appeals. Together, they are parents to three children: Caleb, Jillian, and Joshua. The Causey family resides in Glen Allen, Virginia, where they continue to make a positive impact on their community.
