After 13 years another exciting and eventful RVA Spring Fashion Week has come and gone. Each year, the lineup of shows and events gets better and better. This year, however, was definitely the most fabulous to date.

Being able to attend RVA Fashion Week enabled me to gain access to the Richmond area’s most amazing venues, incredible designers, and of course extraordinary fashion.

This year’s venues showcased a variety of locations throughout the city. Kicking off the week, the wonderful Les Crepes in Carytown hosted the launch of the first print issue of Virginia Style Magazine for 2021. Media, models, photographers, and BTS artists came together to celebrate this exciting event.

The week continued with fashion shows each day at dynamic locations, such as the Rooftop Streetwear show at the one-of-a-kind Hofheimer Building located in historic Scott’s Addition. The Arts District’s boutique hotel, Quirk was the location for another spectacular show, which was also a fundraiser for Feedmore, a local organization that collects, distributes, and prepares food throughout Central Virginia. The Target store at Brookhollow Shopping Center hosted a show prepared by their team of stylists showcasing fashionable men’s and women’s ready-to-wear at everyone’s favorite superstore.

On Friday evening, local designers were once again highlighting their latest styles at Les Crepes, while the area's elite photographers were set up as an Artist Collective to take professional photographs of all attendees.

Of course, the spectacular finale show at The Common House, the hottest Richmond social club, brought the “house” down. The runway of the event literally took place inside and out.

Now let us talk about fashion! This year’s Spring Show offered a wide range of fashions where we saw everything from streetwear to formal wear. Graphic t-shirts to couture gowns and everything in between. I believe this is one of the biggest appeals of this series of shows. It has something for everyone’s taste in style and fashion. As an important art form, fashion should always be inclusive and RVAFW hits the mark.

As an overall takeaway, I saw a lot of bright colors and varying silhouettes on the runway from all the designers. Each show was unique and special; however, my personal favorite was the finale. The designs were incredible and used such a wide range of fabrics, materials, and prints. We saw beaded tops, feather accents, leather trimming, and sheer organza which came together in breathtaking pieces. Unique prints such as leopard and my personal favorite, a peacock print which was used on a bodysuit, were absolutely fabulous. Truly a showstopper!

I love the fact that as an attendee to these events (or watching virtually) viewers of RVA Fashion Week can purchase not only one-of-a-kind pieces but also curated bespoke pieces that you might not find anywhere else. It gives everyone the opportunity to see firsthand the creme de la creme of “up and coming” designers as the well-seasoned veterans who continue to take their place in the River City’s fashion scene.

As a result, Richmond definitely has solidified its position as a “fashion city” with new and exciting events on the horizon. Craving more? You got it RVA! The dates for RVAFW Fall Show 2021 are already on the calendar, Save the dates October
